Assessment

A speech-language or occupational therapy evaluation provides a more complete understanding of an individual’s strengths, needs, and goals. Evaluations may assess areas such as speech clarity, language development, social communication, cognitive-communication skills, sensory processing, fine motor skills, motor planning, self-care routines, play skills, feeding participation, and functional independence.

Evaluations may take approximately 60 minutes to 3 hours, depending on the areas being assessed, the age of the client, and individual needs.

To support a comprehensive evaluation, families are encouraged to share any relevant outside reports, therapy notes, IEPs, medical records, or other information that may help us better understand the client’s developmental history, communication skills, sensory-motor needs, and current concerns.

Following the evaluation, a written report may take up to two weeks to complete. This allows time to carefully review results, summarize findings, and develop meaningful recommendations. We will review the results with you and discuss next steps, which may include therapy recommendations, home strategies, school-based considerations, or referrals to other professionals when appropriate.

Evaluation reports may be shared with schools, physicians, outside providers, family members, or other members of your support team.

Cost: Evaluations typically range from $250–$350, depending on the type and scope of assessment needed.
