Nathan Mutchnick

Nathan, the founder and sole practitioner of Leap Ahead Therapy Services, discovered his passion for speech-language pathology during childhood. Diagnosed with Dyslexia at an early age, he experienced challenges in learning that set him apart from his peers. Struggling with written information, Nathan felt isolated and "different." His transformative experience with a skilled Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) who leveraged his strengths in creativity and problem-solving to address reading and writing challenges inspired him to make a difference in the lives of individuals facing similar learning, understanding, and language expression differences.

Nathan earned a B.S. in Communication Sciences and Disorders from Wayne State University in 2012, followed by an M.S. in Speech-Language Pathology from Florida State University in 2014. His expertise encompasses a wide range of areas, including Family Guided Routines Based Intervention (FGRBI), early intervention, ASD, play-based language therapy, cognitive skills training, sensory techniques, and vocational rehabilitation. Nathan's professional journey has taken him through various settings, including hospitals, inpatient rehabs, outpatient clinics, home health, and schools, demonstrating his commitment to providing comprehensive support. In particular, his experience working at a vocational school in Detroit focusing on helping individuals with cognitive and or social communication difficulties develop the skills necessary to find gainful employment was truly rewarding. During this time, he honed his expertise in integrating sensory techniques to enhance cognitive-communication abilities, collaborating closely with Occupational Therapists as part of a multi-disciplinary team. His dedication to professional growth is reflected in his extensive continuing education in sensory processing and regulation techniques, earning him the Award for Continuing Education (ACE) for two consecutive years. This recognition highlights Nathan's commitment to delivering the most up-to-date, evidence-based treatments to his patients.

Nathan moved to Colorado in February 2022 with his wife and two children. He brings a wealth of experience and a dedication to ongoing learning. His passion for knowledge and professional growth is complemented by his love for the outdoors. Nathan enjoys hiking, trail running, and mountain biking. During his free moments, he prioritizes spending quality time with his family, and playing with his children.
