Nathan Mutchnick
Speech-Language Pathologist
Nathan Mutchnick is the founder of Leap Ahead Therapy Services and a certified speech-language pathologist with a passion for helping children and families build meaningful communication skills. His interest in the field began with his own early experiences with dyslexia. As a child, Nathan understood how frustrating it could feel to struggle with reading and writing. With the support of a skilled speech-language pathologist who recognized his strengths in creativity and problem-solving, he was able to build confidence and succeed. That experience continues to shape his compassionate, strengths-based approach to therapy.
Nathan earned his Bachelor of Science in Communication Sciences and Disorders from Wayne State University in 2012 and his Master of Science in Speech-Language Pathology from Florida State University in 2014. He has experience across a wide range of settings, including early intervention, schools, outpatient clinics, hospitals, inpatient rehabilitation, home health, and vocational rehabilitation.
Nathan specializes in family-guided routines-based intervention, early language development, autism spectrum disorder, play-based language therapy, cognitive-communication skills, sensory-informed approaches, and functional communication support. He also has experience supporting individuals with cognitive and social communication challenges as they build skills for independence, participation, and meaningful employment.
Nathan is committed to providing individualized, evidence-based therapy that fits naturally into each child’s daily routines. He has completed extensive continuing education in sensory processing, regulation, child development, and communication intervention. He has also received ASHA’s Award for Continuing Education twice, reflecting his ongoing commitment to professional growth and high-quality care.
Nathan moved to Colorado in 2022 with his wife and two children. Outside of work, he enjoys hiking, trail running, mountain biking, and spending time outdoors with his family.
Becca Harper
Speech-Language Pathologist
I’ve been practicing as a speech-language pathologist for almost eight years and earned a dual certification as a board-certified behavior analyst in 2022. I’ve worked with individuals from birth through 21, but my best work happens with the busy, curious, wonderfully unpredictable 2- to 5-year-old crowd (2’s and 3’s if I’m really picking favorites). I’m especially passionate about developing early language and teaching those skills to parents and caregivers—helping families feel confident, supported, and equipped to build communication skills that stick and generalize beyond a therapy session.
Amanda Lucio
Occupational Therapist
Amanda earned her Masters of Occupational Therapy from UTMB Galveston in 2013 and has worked with children from birth through young adulthood across outpatient, hospital, school, and home health settings.
She has experience supporting individuals with special needs and helping families build foundational skills through everyday routines and play. Amanda specializes in fine and gross motor development, sensory processing and regulation, play and social engagement, feeding and self-care skills, early communication and interaction, and developmental milestones. She values a family-centered approach and enjoys partnering with parents and caregivers to develop practical strategies that can be naturally incorporated into daily life.
Amanda has been passionate about working with children with special needs since she was 12 years old. Her approach is play-based, child-led, sensory-informed, and individualized. She prioritizes building strong relationships with families while helping each child develop meaningful skills that carry over into home, school, and community life.
Outside of work, Amanda enjoys exploring the outdoors with her husband and three children.
